Organizations
implementing Layered Process Audit (LPA) methodology have reported the
following benefits: Reduced errors, scrap, and costs, improved product
quality, reduced non-value added activities, improved employee
participation, increased customer satisfaction. LPA’s - as part of the TS16949:2002 Customer Specific Requirements - are a mandatory requirement for the manufacturing facilities of organizations supplying production parts or components to DaimlerChrysler and are also strongly recommended by General Motors to their supply organizations. Bill Goddard will discuss the LPA methodology, who is involved, at what frequency and what the reporting requirements are. He will describe the pilot LPA process that has been implemented at Dofasco in Hamilton, potential roadblocks to deployment, and some ways to overcome implementation barriers. |
