NOTICE OF MEMBERSHIP MEETING

DATE:  Wednesday, May 23, 2007

TIME: 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Location:   The Plainsman Restaurant, Hwy. 5,  3 km west of Hwy. 6, Dundas
(See map below)

Please join us for dinner and a unique experience
– the Quality Café - to explore the topic of

“What do you, our section members, require professionally  to succeed in the future?”

We will use the output of this event as a guide for the Hamilton Section Executive 
to determine the topics for presentations, courses and events for 2007-2008,
thereby closing the loop to your requirements.

In addition to learning about the Quality Café methodology, participants can earn up to .6 RU’s for this event. 

We are fortunate enough to have Grace Duffy, ASQ Vice President, as our Facilitator for this event.

Co-facilitators will be Judi Mansfield-Jones, Hamilton Section Past Chair, 
and Jeff Race, Hamilton Section Chair-Elect.

You will also walk away with an authentic ASQ coffee mug, while quantities last.

 The Café process is gaining rapid global popularity as an innovative, highly successful means of encouraging effective questions, candid dialogue and creative thinking among medium to large-size groups in a safe, welcoming atmosphere.

We will have an intense and fast paced evening. The agenda is very tight indeed and we ask that all participants be present and signed in before 6:30 p.m.

The Agenda for this event is as follows:

6:00 – 6:30               Registration and networking (cash bar)
6:30 – 7:00               Introduction to the Café concept and overview of stakeholder dialogue
7:00 – 7:45               Dinner and conduct Round 1 (discussion)
7:45 – 8:00               Break
8:00 – 8:25               Round 2
8:25 – 8:40               Round 3, including prioritizing “findings”
8:40 – 9:00               Key Gatherings, and Wrap–up

The Section is charging a $25 fee for this event – dinner included.

Quality Café Facilitator - Grace L. Duffy, Vice-President, ASQ

Grace provides services in organizational and process improvement, leadership, quality, and customer service. She is co-author of The Quality Improvement Handbook and The Executive Guide to Improvement and Change.

Grace holds an MBA from Georgia State University and a Bachelor's in Archaeology and Anthropology from Brigham Young University.  She is an ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, Certified Quality Improvement Associate, and Certified Quality Auditor. Grace is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and Manager of Process Improvement.

Changes on the Hamilton Section Executive for 2007-2008

At the March 22, 2007 membership meeting, Jane Devries was nominated for the position of Secretary for the 2007-2008 year. In the absence of other nominations, Jane was elected by acclamation to this position. Jane will also continue her Professional Development responsibilities.

Bob Mok will continue his website administration responsibilities in the newly created position of Webmaster.  Bob will also continue to distribute the hard copy version of the section newsletter.

Larry Langs, in addition to Certification activities, will also take on Education responsibility, in particular liaison with Mohawk College.

The executive welcomes Stan Sobota, who will take the position of Audit and Nominating Chair.
